Facebook and Twitter.
I LOVE Facebook and check and upload daily to my personal account. I don't think 1that it is a useful tool for elementary, especially 1st grade. I can see using it to discuss your classes in college or maybe high school....to update on assignments, ect. I don't think that it is actually an appropriate tool for teachers to use with students however...too personal. I really think that the only appropriate medium for these tools is the college classroom, aside from social networking. Twitter is an excellent tool for open forum discussions for college classrooms, rather than closed email lists.

Thing # 4
Uploading video to Youtube and Teachertube! SO FUN! There are so many advantages to using these resources in the classroom. I can search for materials that I find on the internet to go with our units, and I can also upload videos taken on my cell phone of the kids in action, upload them to youtube and then post them to our class blog! This is a video of my son that I made this summer. He loves to dance!
Thing # 4
I love Skype and I have to say that most of my experience with it is actually from watching Oprah!! She has been using it on her show for years and it is amazing. I think that it would be amazing to use in the classroom to connect to other classes across the world. The problem we face is that our laptops are not camera enabled...so I am not sure how we could address that. I am going to speak to our librarian to see if there is some sort of attachment or converter that we could use...or if we could check out webcams and do it that way. It would be awesome to have Skype palls as"trouts" suggested. I found a cool website that actually shows you different ways of using it in your classroom.

THING # 2
WORDLE: I lOVE wordle..we used this in our classes this year after the librarian taught us all about it. So fun! Kids could use this as a beautiful opening page for a project or on a storyboard for a presentation.

GLOGSTER: It must be having trouble today...wouldn't load and very slow. I bookmarked it though because it looks super cool! This would be a nice tool for the kids to make "cycle projects" for science.
ANIMOTO: We use this a LOT a Spring Branch Elementary...especially for school-wide presentations. I did one this summer on my kids for Field Day. So fun and the music makes this site so special. The kids get SO excited! Kids can use this for projects in science especially, not to mention art and music. I use it to wrap up a unit..I take many pictures of my kids and what we are working on.
VOKI: How fun! Each kid could make their own! We could also create characters from books!

LIBRARY 2PLAY 2 HERE WE GO AGAIN THING #1
I loved the video and I think that our librarian could absolutely play an important role. She could help the teachers and the kids to filter information and learn how to really dig without needless surfing. I just wish that I could have had access to all of this in college-especially Google Scholar. It was awesome how the student was able to use blogs and other sources to find the information needed. Not to mention books are SO crazy expensive in college....sometimes more than my semesters tuition. I am in the process of admission to grad school right now and my degree has an emphasis on digital learning. We are to receive ipads as part of the package to do our work on. HOW EXCITING! I hope it happens for me and I am accepted!
So happy to be in Library2PLAY again. Can't wait to learn even more!
